Willa Brigham

Willa is the two-time Emmy Award Winning Host of the television show Smart Start Kids. She is an inspirational speaker, storyteller, writer and performing artist who joined the Durham Arts Council’s CAPS artist roster since 1994.  Willa has presented workshops for educators of young children conferences and partnerships for children. This Entertainer of the Year has delighted audiences across the US. Willa has 6 delightful CDs to her credit and two books. She is also a multidimensional fiber artist. Willa’s contagious energy inspires, challenges, and motivates.  She has a passion for entertaining and bringing laughter to audiences of all ages.

Performance Storytelling Fun!

GRADES: Pre-K – 12

Develop students listening, understanding and character development gathered around Willa Brigham. Students will learn the needs of a good story; a strong opening, colorful adjectives, details and descriptive characterization as the story comes to an explosive end. Each performance includes stories chosen to match the ages of each audience.

Max Participants: 325

Duration: 60 minutes (45-minute performance plus Q&A)

Special Requirements: 1 microphone

Fees:

  • Single Performance: $1,000 
  • Two Same-Day Performances: $1,375

Residency Happy Healthy Habits

GRADES: Pre-K – 2 

Learning good and useful habits can be fun and entertaining. In this essential residency, Willa Brigham teaches and happily reinforces the basic needs of fire and personal safety, good eating habits, dental care, and good manners.

Max Participants: 25 students per class; required booking of at least 2 classes per day

Duration: 30-45 minute sessions per day/class. 3 days minimum needed for residency.

Special Requirements: Classroom setting with enough room for students to be able to move.

Fee: $125 per residency session per class

Residency Four Patch Story

GRADES: 6-8

Develop students listening, understanding and character development gathered around Willa Brigham. Students will learn the needs of a good story; a strong opening, colorful adjectives, details and descriptive characterization as the story comes to an explosive end. Each performance includes stories chosen to match the ages of each audience.

Max Participants: 25

Duration: 5 sessions in 5 days minimum needed for residency: 45-60 minute sessions

Special Requirements: clean, bright class room easy access to an electric outlet

Fees: Base rates include minimum 5-Day residency at $250 per class, 1- class per day; $225 per class at 2-classes per day; and $200 per class at 3-classes per day. See totals below for the three different residency options. Fees includes quilting supplies:

  • 5-Day Residency total for ONE CLASS Per Day: $1,250 
  • 5-Day Residency total for TWO CLASSES Per Day: $2,250 
  • 5-Day Residency total for THREE CLASSES Per Day: $3,000
