Karen Novy is a songwriter, speaker and vocal empowerment facilitator. She speaks from the heart and guides audiences to deep and powerful moments of self-realization. Her talks leave people feeling inspired, empowered, and valued for who they are and the gifts that they offer. In the past year, Karen launched her one-woman show, “A Hero’s Journey: Coming Home”. She facilitates vocal empowerment workshops to help participants freely express and connect with their voice and believes in the healing power of our voices. Residency  Building a Song, Telling Your Story

GRADES: 6-12

Karen Novy, songwriter/musician, guides students through the process of transforming thoughts and feelings into lyrics for their personal songs. Karen discusses the power of music to express emotion and delves into technical concepts of song form and melody. 

Max Participants: 25

Duration: Minimum 2 days needed for residency completion, 60-minute sessions

Special Requirements: Classroom or theater space. Artist will supply: Bluetooth speaker, song examples, piano or guitar

Fee: $218.75 per class session; 2-day residency minimum is required

Performance Soul Sessions: Exploring Emotions with Songwriting

GRADES: Kindergarten – 12

Karen Novy performs original music that explores the healing power of creative expression. She gives background on the inspiration for each song and discusses why the creative process, inherent to all of us, is so powerful.

Max Participants: 250

Duration: 45 minutes

Special Requirements:
15×10 foot space to set up musical equipment; we have a small PA for smaller spaces, larger auditoriums will need in-house PA system

Performance / Keynote The Power of Possibility: The Intersection of Mindfulness, Music, and Mindset

GRADES: 6 – 12

In this performance/keynote talk, Karen speaks on the power of the subconscious mind and how we, as creative beings, can decide to rewrite the automatic programming that often runs our perspective and related actions; we have the power to change our own story. This talk empowers youth to create a vision for their lives by accessing their voice and knowing their true worth and value. Concepts and techniques we can discuss are free-writing, mindfulness, creative exploration, positive affirmations, and growth mindset. Karen will underscore certain sections with live music, and she will engage in polling the audience for answers to relevant questions. Karen will also lead the audience in self-care rituals and vocal exploration.

Max Participants: 300

Duration: 45-60 minutes

Special Requirements: If in an auditorium, sound system is needed with 1 microphone; access to 3 electrical outlets; PA inputs for piano and vocal microphone; 1 chair or stool, and small table for artist’s props.
