Jan French

Jan French is a multi-fiber artist teaching weaving and directing woven collaborations in the Triangle since 2007. She has worked as a Teaching Artist in Wake, Orange and Durham Counties since 2009. In 2017 she received training and worked with students with disabilities as part of the Wake Arts Inclusion Project managed by Arts Access. Residency Weave or Knot!

GRADES: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, & 12

Students learn all about knots and the craft of weaving on a loom as they build and weave on their own backstrap loom. Instructor demonstrates spinning fiber and weaving on a traditional floor loom.

GRADES: K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, & 12

Students learn how to weave on a loom in your specialized classroom. Artist will make individualized equipment modifications and will use personal interaction, learning aids and cooperative strategies to help each student to experience the weaving process.
