The Durham Art Guild presents Where We Reside, featuring works by Amber Mooers, Yve Holtzclaw and Lady Summer.
What makes a home? While transitioning into adulthood during a pandemic, we have found ourselves moving houses, seeking comfort in unmooring times, and working through past trauma. Artists Amber Mooers, Lady Summer, and Yve Holtzclaw work to dissect the idiosyncratic nature of home through representation, abstraction, and distortion. We seek to understand home as an internal and intimate state of being, connecting the concepts of home as architecture, spirit, and body across material and dimension. As viewers meander through paths of sculpture, paintings, and prints, the diverse imagery will encourage them to ponder their understanding of home and guide them to a place of comfort during these continuously trying times.
