In addition to the February Third Friday reception, visitors may view Pattern Lapping Pattern and all other exhibits in the Durham Arts Council and Durham Art Guild from 11 am – 5 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. No appointment sign up is required. Guests will be screened before entering the DAC building and masks are required.
Pattern Lapping Pattern is a continuation of Debra Wuliger’s exhibit of the same name currently on view at the Durham Convention Center. Visitors are welcome to view that exhibit in the Durham Convention Center’s Pre-Function Corridor, 301 W Morgan St, through November 5, 2022.
Pattern Lapping Pattern features work from painter Debra Wuliger’s Harmonic Vibration Series, which explores the open ended emotional resonance of interlocking pattern and color. These patterns tap into a deep desire we have as humans for order and the joy that order and vibrant color communicates.
Wuliger states: “I like to think that each painting is a portal that allows us to transcend the ordinary and leads us into a child-like realm of spectacle and wonder. That just for a moment, as we stop to gaze at a painting, we can all become the child, gazing up and watching the clouds carve patterns in the sky.”
