Kidznotes
Kidznotes is a nonprofit based in Durham, North Carolina that provides tuition-free after-school classical music instruction to students in grades 1-12. Inspired by the El Sistema model of music education from Venezuela, Kidznotes uses orchestral training to empower youth through music education, fostering personal growth, deepening community engagement, and driving social change. Kidznotes envisions a world in which every child has equitable access to a vibrant music education community where the passion for music unlocks children’s potential, transforms lives, and contributes to a thriving society.

Workshop Classroom Instrument "Petting Zoo" with Kidznotes
GRADES: PreK-K, K-2 & 3-5
Ever want to see and play a musical instrument up close? Bring Kidznotes to your music class! Two Kidznotes Teaching Artists will bring a menagerie of string, wind, or percussion instruments to explore with your elementary school students to spark an interest in learning more. Perfect for students before a trip to the symphony, students will learn instrument families in an orchestra and get the chance to try each one in small groups.
Max Participants: 40 per workshop (max of 4 workshops per day)
Duration: 45-60 minutes
Special Requirements: A large open space for up to 40 students to sit as a group and then split into small groups with at least 5-6 chairs in one small group.
