ARPA Impact
DAC’s “Culture and Arts: Invest to Restart” program provides grants and training programs for arts and cultural organizations, business, and individual artists. In June, 79 participants registered for an ARPA funded DEI training course. These participants will also have access to the next workshop in the series about implementing DEI strategies! |

“I am very thankful for the opportunity to participate in the DEI training sponsored by Durham Arts Council. The initial session was intellectually stimulating and historically accurate, providing valuable insights into the foundations of racial equity. The presenter demonstrated remarkable ease and expertise, guiding us through the course with the skill of a seasoned professional.
Investing in such training is incredibly powerful, and I commend DAC for prioritizing education and professional development in this area. Please continue to ring the bell for equity through ongoing initiatives like these.”
-Appreciation from Dr. Thomas Howard, Executive Director of Kidznotes who participated in ARPA DEIA training earlier this year. |

Artist Support Grantee Project Goes Abroad |
EcoFutura, a project by Artists Support Grantee Sophie Capshaw-Mack has recently been adapted into a video art piece and selected for the prestigious UART MEDIA FEST in Kyiv, Ukraine, on October 5. It will be showcased on the largest outdoor screen in Europe at the Gulliver Mall, as part of this renowned international media arts festival.
Sophie shared her reflection on the impact of being a grant recipient, “I’m thrilled! The assistance from the Artist Support Grant has been incredibly transformative, and I’m truly grateful for your continued backing.” EcoFutura’s inclusion in this event underscores the power of artistic expression to inspire and connect across borders.

| DAC CAPS Artist Vault Theatre Presents: Red Riding Hood, By Allison Gregory
This one-wolf show is interrupted by the delivery of a mysterious package, but instead of leaving, the delivery person joins Wolfgang to tell the story. This madcap retelling is full of laughs delivered through puns and knock-knock jokes that will have audiences howling. Like an unexpected package, when you open up a fairy tale, you never know what you’re going to find!
