Experience two exciting exhibitions at the Durham Arts Council on Third Friday, August 16, 6-8pm.
Featuring Nick Dahlstrom’s introspective solo show, “Penumb(RAW)”, unveiling raw emotions in vibrant displays and “Intertwined: Complex Surfaces”, by mixed media artists Elaine Fleck and Hannah Schutzengel.
You can also see the Durham Art Guild’s latest show, “Haptic Happenings: Exploring Identity Through Figure and Touch.” The Galleries at DAC are FREE and open to the public Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm and Sunday 1pm-6pm |

Sheila Crosby joins us for her first term here at DAC. She has cultivated a distinguished career as a product designer and design leader within diverse STEM
enterprises. She currently works as a Senior Manager in Field Research for Newell Brands. Beyond her professional pursuits, Sheila enjoys a diverse array of artistic endeavors, including photography, painting, quilting, jewelry making, dance, and needlework. Welcome Sheila! |

Constanza Gómez-Joines is a returning DAC Board member who served 7 years and is a previous DAC Board President. Connie is an experienced educator with a demonstrated record of visionary leadership, strategic planning, and community engagement. She has more than 20 years of teaching and leadership experience in higher education, and currently serves as Durham Technical Community College’s Executive Director for the Center for the Global Learner. Welcome back Connie!

Soonja is an oil painter who loves to paint in an impressionist style with a flair of realistic values, with thick textures with multiple layers of paint. She use a 5 value scale with muted edges of subjects if the values are close enough so that all the colors are blended and harmonized. She loves to paint
cityscapes she has traveled to and oceans to overcome her fear of water. You can find Soonja painting in her studio located in Golden Belt Arts!

Artist Support Grant applications are now available for artists seeking to create work or bring their work to new audiences. The deadline to apply for a grant is August 30.
The Artist Support Grant Program is funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, the Durham Arts Council Annual Fund and partner county arts councils. |
