Support the DAC to ring in the New Year!

As this amazing year of arts and culture in Durham draws to a close, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support for Durham Arts Council. Your commitment to our local arts community has been a driving force, helping artists and arts organizations share their incredible artistry and voices. Your support makes it possible for everyone to celebrate, heal, and connect through the arts. As we look ahead to the coming year, we are asking for your support for DAC!

Why should you support the DAC?

• We tripled our grantmaking since 2020 to provide $1.7 million in Covid-relief funds to Durham artists and arts organizations.
•  We Served 27,000 children in schools through the DAC CAPS program!
• DAC offered over 700 arts classes and camps for 4,000 students of all ages!
• CenterFest 2023 was the #1 ranked Fine Arts Festival in North Carolina; #59 Nationally!
• DAC provided $1.15 million in arts jobs to over 1,300 artists and arts workers.

• DAC served 364,978 people of all ages last year in our community through arts programming, festivals, exhibits, grants, arts facilities, training, advocacy, arts research and arts jobs.

   

DAC Summer Arts Camp Volunteer Application 2024

Summer Arts Camp provides volunteers the opportunity to assist camp instructors, work with DAC admin staff, and get creative with kids while painting, sculpting, crafting, performing, and more!

This opportunity also provides you with valuable resume building experience and can count towards volunteer requirements that your school or membership organization may have. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please complete this application as soon as possible.

You must be at least 14 years old by August 30, 2024. When your application is received, you may be emailed to set up a virtual interview time.

Application Deadline: May 6, 2024, Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and do not guarantee that every applicant will receive a volunteer position.

Emerging Artists Grant application closes December 30th!

This grant supports professional career development projects for individual artists living in Durham, Orange, Chatham, Granville and Person Counties, NC (see the website for additional information on eligibility). Selected grantees have the opportunity to be granted $1,500, plus we anticipate granting a total of $20,000 to Emerging Artists in this grant cycle.

This program is funded by The Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, The Anika James Foundation, The Kelley Katzenmeyer Fund for Emerging Artists, the Durham Arts Council and arts councils in partner counties.

Call for Artists

Town of Cary is now accepting applications for exhibitions in late 2024-2025 solo and group art exhibition opportunities at six Town venues: Cary Arts Center, Page-Walker Arts & History Center, Cary Senior Center, Herb Young Community Center, Bond Park Community Center, and Cary Town Hall.  Artists working in any medium are invited to submit an application.

Application deadlines are August 1st and February 1st.
