Save the date for June Third Friday at the DAC!
Our House is full to the brim with art! The Durham Arts Council School is in the spotlight for June Third Friday at the DAC, as we present Our House, an annual exhibition of student and instructor visual artwork. Join us on Friday, June 17 from 6-8pm for the opening reception. This event is the RESCHEDULED opening reception originally planned for May Third Friday. Our House showcases our vibrant community arts education program; the Durham Arts Council School provides 700+ courses each year to more than 4,000 adults, teens and children in drawing and painting, dance, clay, theatre, photography, digital arts, writing, fiber arts and more. The visual art in Our House reflects the hard work and creativity of our students, and the professionalism and expertise of our instructors. Our House is on view in the Allenton (first floor) and Semans (second floor) Galleries, through July 7, 2022. Also happening at our Third Friday event: musician and DAC instructor Josh Zaslow will be performing in our Pavilion lobby. Josh draws on the vast well of America's pop, rock, blues, folk, and jazz music to form the basis of his improvisational guitar playing. His performance is sponsored in part by Bullhorn Arts and Education. Catch more live music just outside our doors, as jazz duo David Lewis (guitar) & Michael Markowicz (keys) will be performing in the DAC terrace area. Additionally, in the first-floor Truist Gallery, the Durham Art Guild will present the opening of a new exhibit – stay tuned for more info.
See you at the DAC on Friday, June 17!
