Susan Amey is President and CEO of Discover Durham, an organization whose mission is to fuel economic health and development by attracting and serving visitors to Durham. Discover Durham acts as Durham’s marketing and sales agency, promoting the community’s brand, driving awareness of its appeal as a visitor destination, and encouraging community improvement that benefits visitors as well as residents.
Geraud Staton is the executive director of Helius. Helius provides coaching and mentoring for small businesses, primarily those run by necessity-driven entrepreneurs. Helius provides education through their LaunchDURHAM training, as well as provided access to capital and technical assistance through their many partners. Geraud believes whole-heartedly in Helius’s vision: “We see a North Carolina where everyone has the capability to support themselves and their families with dignity, in the face of racial, educational and financial inequity.”
Peter Wooldridge is a multimedia artist who lives and works in Durham, NC. He retired from Durham Technical Community College in July of 2019. While at the college, he served as the Vice-President and Chief Instructional Officer for the Corporate and Continuing Education division, the Executive Dean for the Arts and Sciences division, and Assistant Dean for University Transfer.

Applications for Artist Support Grants are open! These project grants should enhance the applicant’s skills and abilities to create work, improve their business operations or capacity to bring their work to new audiences. Links to applications can be found on the DAC’s Artist Support Grant page.

Eligible applicants have lived in Durham, Orange, Alamance or Person Counties, NC, for one year before the application due date, are at least 18 and are not in a degree program in their art form. Applications are due September 3, 2021.
This is the second year of this program, established and funded by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources. The administration of the program is supported by Durham Arts Council and Partner Counties.

Visual Artist Application for Durham Art Walk Holiday Market is Open!
The application for the Durham Art Walk Holiday Market is NOW OPEN! All artists who wish to participate in this non-juried event must apply online via the application link. The application fee is $5.00, with a $75.00 booth fee for accepted artists. The Durham Art Walk Holiday Market will be held Saturday November 20, and Sunday November 21. Participating artists will be placed at locations throughout our Downtown Durham footprint, in both indoor and outdoor spaces. The Holiday Market is the perfect transition from the harvest to the holidays! This annual community arts festival is free and family friendly – learn more about Art Walk here.
ClayMakers is hiring a General Manager!
Overall, the General Manager will:
• work with the Executive Director to ensure smooth flow of retail and studio operations;
• interact with students and open studio renters in a way that supports Claymakers’ mission;
• promote and maintain a positive, safe working environment;
• develop and promote sound studio use guidelines and procedures
CALL FOR ART – All artists working in any medium are encouraged to submit up to 3 artworks for consideration to one of the Durham Art Guild’s largest and most impressive exhibitions of the year. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and artwork must be original and created within the last 2 years. Artists chosen by the juror will be included in a group exhibition of the selected artworks at the Durham Art Guild’s 3,000 sq. ft. SunTrust Gallery and will be considered for all awards including $1,400 in cash prizes. We are also planning an online version of the exhibit as well.

Mallarme is putting out a CALL FOR TALENT to enlist artists in a duo format to participate in a new concert series beginning Jan 1, 2022 called DYNAMIC DUOS. More information HERE.
Festifall (Chapel Hill) is seeking diverse, professional, and experienced makers to sell unique goods, like jewelry, textiles, paintings, ceramics, furniture and more. This year Festifall will be a series of locally curated pop-up art markets at different locations in downtown Chapel Hill. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through August 30, 2021.
