Portrait Project Honors Those Responding to Food Insecurity in Durham Durham Arts Council is proud to feature the work of photographer Rhonda Klevansky, as one of multiple venues displaying portraits from her “Reaching Out to Durham’s Hungry” project. This project explores Durham’s response to hunger during COVID and the economic crisis. The series spotlights members of our community working to provide food to those in need. Beginning on Friday, May 21, Rhonda’s work will be on view at the DAC, 21c Museum Hotel Durham, Bull McCabes, Durham Central Park, and the Museum of Durham History. In the spirit of social distance, you can view all of the work outdoors, with photos in windows, on banners, and mounted on fences.
Don’t Stop The Music: Celebrating Black Music Month! Every Wednesday In June @ 7pm, Hayti Heritage Center presents our music Series, DON’T STOP THE MUSIC, celebrating Black Music Month. Each Week, we will present a different genre of music that reflects the deep roots and influence Black Americans has had on the American musical landscape.

Learn more about these opportunity. Deadline is approaching! June 30th. The City of Raleigh seeks several artists to work closely with the community and design team to create artworks for the Plaza & Play that speak to the themes of the Dorothea Dix Park Master Plan. Two to four artists/artist teams will be selected to design and fabricate artworks and assigned a tentative scope of work. Application deadline: June 7, 2021. The North Carolina Writers’ Network offers an annual Sally Buckner Emerging Writers’ Fellowship, in honor of the late poet, editor, and educator. The Buckner Fellowship, in the amount of $500 awarded to one writer each year, supports North Carolina emerging writers whose work shows promise of excellence and commitment to a literary career.
