Susan Hartley, a 40- year veteran dance educator holds NC licensure, a BA in Dramatic Arts from UNC Chapel Hill and MFA in dance from UNC Greensboro. Presently a visiting artist with CAPS, The United Arts Council of Wake County and the Arts and Science Council in Charlotte, she provides an exciting, informative, and creative integrated curriculum using your focus area, movement, A+ principles and Anne Green Gilbert’s Brain Dance. She also provides Professional Development focusing on stress management and restorative self-help from which adults and students  can benefit.

Teacher Workshop Let’s Make Your Classroom Dance!

GRADES: Pre-K – 12 educators

Workshop(s) designed specifically for the classroom teacher will explore how to turn your curriculum into movement, to dance parts of speech, poetry, geometric design, algebra, force/motion, geography, etc. and comfortably create movement that depict visual expressions of such.

Max Participants: 30

Duration: 90 minute minimum

Special Requirements: A clean, open space to safely facilitate movement, wall space to hang visuals. A CD or iPod sound system, whiteboard, or Smartboard

Fee: $375 per hour

 

Student Workshop or Teacher Workshop Movement for Brain, Body 'N' Soul for Students and Teacher Professional Development

GRADES: Pre-K – 12, educators

Workshops follow the principles of Anne Green Gilbert’s Brain Dance. her sequence activities the entire brain preparing it for recall, comprehension, and retention of new knowledge. The Brain Dance can invigorate, relax the body and mind, and create positive social interactions. 

Workshops can be designed to relieve and manage stress while offering mental and physical relaxation. Tailored to meet the unique needs and abilities of individuals in the group, the objective of these sessions is to foster effective brain stimulation, body coordination, and imagination. The goal is for participants to build and renew connections in the brain and body. Individual personalities are explored and celebrated through movement.

People of all levels of agility, from fully ambulatory to those with wheelchairs, canes, or walkers are actively engaged in chairs, standing, on the floor, or in the pool.

Max Participants: 30 students or unlimited educators

Duration: Program will be developed to meet host’s schedule. 30 minutes min – your maximum

Special Requirements: A clean, open space to safely facilitate movement, wall space to hang visuals. An appropriate sound system to accommodate the space, whiteboard, or smart board if available.

Fee: $375 per hour

 

Residency Curricular Connections Though Dance

GRADES: Pre-K – 12

Through an interdisciplinary approach, students will create dance experiences uniquely designed to enhance and compliment what they are studying in the classroom and acquire a deeper and broader understanding of the subject matter. 

Max Participants: 30

Duration: Minimum 2-day residency with same class(es), 60-minute sessions

Special Requirements: A clean, open space to safely facilitate movement, wall space to hang visuals. A CD or iPod sound system, whiteboard, or smart board, classroom teacher present and sharing in learning/teaching experience.

Fees: $375 per hour/per residency session
