ARTS-CURRICULUM INTEGRATION: LITERACY, DANCE/MOVEMENT
Learning Through Stories In Motion on Facebook
GRADES: PreK-5
DESCRIPTION: Learning through Stories in Motion will give students of all abilities the opportunity to connect literacy skills with movement. Meaningful, arts-integrated lessons are created that enhance teachers’ literacy instruction and foster literacy skills in students. We can customize the residency to include literature chosen by the teacher or we can provide the content ourselves. One popular choice is the book How Do You Dance? by Thyra Heder, a diverse story full of important SEL themes. Lessons are aligned with Common Core Language Arts state standards and NC Essential Standards for Dance. Movement is a powerful learning tool in the classroom!
