How to request CAPS programs for DPS Schools

Checklist for DPS Schools

  • August

    DPS Schools appoint Arts Liaisons to book and coordinate CAPS programs with the DAC CAPS Director

  • Determine how your school will fund CAPS programming

  • Browse the CAPS Artist Directory and select an artist-led performance, workshop, or residency

  • September
  • The Arts Liaison will coordinate with the CAPS Director and school leadership to ensure a successful arts integration experience

  • Enjoy your CAPS Performance or Workshop

  • Complete the online CAPS Survey

School Eligibility

  • Be a public school located in Durham County

  • Have an appointed School Arts Liaison 

  • Schedule a program from our Artist Directory 

Funding for CAPS Programs

  • Durham Public Schools partners with Durham Arts Council (CAPS) and provides each school with at least one free CAPS Arts Integration Experience per school year. The DPS/CAPS is budget based on a specific school’s enrollment ($2 per elementary/middle school student & $1 per high school student).
  • Parent Teacher Associations support CAPS programs and are invited to contact CAPS for in-school experiences.
