Delaney works with young people to tell stories through art. With 20 years of teaching experience and a master’s degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she builds social justice practices and culturally relevant curriculum. Students explore big ideas through various art techniques. Residencies can be modified to meet specific needs of schools including arts integration and installations. Residency We The People: Exploring Identity with Collaborative Art
GRADES: Pre-K – 12 Students learn self-portraiture art techniques while thinking critically about identity race and gender. Together they will make a work of art that celebrates individuality and collective identity. Choose from drawing, painting, or printmaking to create a collaborative installation. Max Participants: 25 Duration: 50 minute sessions, 3-5 days needed for residencies depending on the project. Special Requirements: Access to projector, 2 tables for artist’s materials, tables where participants can work 3-Day Residency – approximate fees 1 class: $687.50-$812.50 plus materials 2 classes: $968.75-$1,125 plus materials 5-Day Residency 1 class: $1093.75-$1,218.75 plus materials 2 classes: $1,250-$1,500 plus materials
Workshop or Residency Family Story Quilt Making with Handmade Art Objects
GRADES: 3-12 Students use oral history and storytelling to research their own family. Through colored pencil portraits and squares, students will create special works of art about their culture and legacy. Max Participants: 25 Duration: 60-Minute workshop; 30-60 minute residency sessions, 2 or more days needed for residency depending on the project Special Requirements: Access to projector, 2 tables for artist’s materials, tables where students can work Fees: Workshop: Single Workshop: $250 – $312.50 plus materials Two Same-Day Workshops: $562.50 plus materials Three Same-Day Workshops: $812.50 plus materials 3-Day Residency 1 class: $687.50 – $812.50 plus materials 2 classes: $968.75 – $1,125 plus materials 5-Day Residency 1 class: $1093.75 – $1,218.75 plus materials 2 classes: $1,250 – $1,500 plus materials
