Oakgrove Elementary students find their Superpower

Fifth grade students at Oak Grove Elementary recently participated in "Find Your Superpower in Writing and Art," a virtual arts integration residency led by CAPS teaching artist Mimi Herman.

Students were guided through processes to discover their personal superpower and share it with the world through creative writing & art! Listen to Nadia as she shares her superpower story.

We want to recognize and thank Durham Public Schools, Jeremy Tucker, DPS Director of Arts Education, and the incredible Arts Liaisons at all 53 DPS schools who help coordinate these important Durham Arts Council CAPS programs.

ADF & Rennie Harris FUNKEDIFIED is back in schools

ADF presents Rennie Harris FUNKEDIFIED, a 35-minute multi-media work that celebrates funk music and street dance of the 1970’s. It’s set against the landscape of a video montage featuring African American communities of that era.

The show is $250. Schools can choose the performance only version or performance and interview with Rennie Harris and Robert Battle. See Teacher Curriculum Guide here

Creative Arts in Public & Private Schools (CAPS) is a 48-year active program of the Durham Arts Council that places professional artists in public/private classrooms and community settings throughout Durham, Granville, and Orange counties.
